Press Conference NICOLAUS SCHAFHAUSEN for BUCHAREST BIENNALE 6 /for English please scroll down COMUNICAT DE PRESÄ BUCURESÌTI, 13 Februarie 2013, 11:00, NICOLAUS SCHAFHAUSEN, va sustÌine prima conferintÌaÌ de presaÌ Ãn calitate de curator al BUCHAREST BIENNALE 6 - Bienala InternatÌionalaÌ de ArtaÌ ContemporanaÌ BucuresÌti.â ConferintÌa de presaÌ va avea loc la PAVILION - centrul pentru artaÌ sÌi culturaÌ contemporanaÌ (Str. C.A. Rosetti nr. 36 A, intrare prin Str. J.L.Calderon), BUCURESÌTI, 13 februarie 2013, ora 11:00. BUCHAREST BIENNALE 6 â Bienala InternatÌionalaÌ de ArtaÌ ContemporanaÌ BucuresÌti - va fi deschisaÌ Ãn perioada 23 Mai - 20 Iulie 2014 sÌi va fi curatoriataÌ de Nicolaus Schafhausen, directorul Kunsthalle Wien. Aceasta va marca sÌi prima cooperare dintre Bucharest Biennale sÌi Kunsthalle Wien, ce va crea un nou tip de dialog Ãntre BucuresÌti sÌi Viena. Prin numirea unui curator inovativ sÌi de succes precum Nicolaus Schafhausen, Bienala BucuresÌti va continua traditÌia de explorare a diverselor moduri de abordare a orasÌului, Ãntr-un context global.âTema centralaÌ a celei de-a sÌasea editÌii Bucharest Biennale va fi proiectataÌ Ãn reprezentaÌri diferite ale conceptului Belonging & Longing (ApartenentÌaÌ sÌi AbsentÌaÌ). BB6 se va concentra pe teme legate de natura imperfectaÌ/deschisaÌ a identitaÌtÌilor (natÌionale), cu fortÌele in- versate ale dorintÌei pentru identitate sÌi individualism sÌi efectele lor structurale Ãn perceptÌia Celuilalt sÌi a Sinelui. Prin modelul de succes pe care l-a impus Ãn editÌiile precedente, BUCHAREST BIENNALE sÌi-a stabilit pozitÌia pe scena internatÌionalaÌ ca fiind una dintre cele mai importante bienale din Europa. The press conference will take place at PAVILION - Center for Contemporary Art and Culture (Str. C.A. Rosetti nr. 36 A, entrance from Str. Jean Louis Calderon), BUCHAREST, 13 February 2013, at 11:00 a.m. BUCHAREST BIENNALE 6 - Bucharest International Biennial for Contemporary Art - is set for May 23 - July 20, 2014, under the cu- ratorship of Nicolaus Schafhausen, director of Kunsthalle Wien. The appointment also will mark the first cooperation of BUCHAREST BIENNALE and Kunsthalle Wien which will develop a new type of dialogue between Wien and Bucharest. By appointing such a successful and innovative curator as Nicolaus Schafhausen, BUCHAREST BIENNALE will continue its tradition of exploring different ways of engaging the city, within a global context. Governing motif of the 6th Bucharest Biennale will be displayed in various figures of the concept-couple Belonging & Longing. It will focus on topics related to the imperfect/open nature of (national) identities, the inverse forces of desire for identity and individualism and their structural effects towards our perception of the Other and the Self. With the successful model imposed by the previous editions, the biennale already established its position within the international scene, as one of the most vital biennials in Europe. The press conference will be joined by RaÌzvan Ion and Eugen RaÌdescu, the co-directors of BUCHAREST BIENNALE and Andrei CraÌciun, executive director.
