*Presentation*

The Research Program La Seine was created by Tony Brown in 2002 for young
French and foreign artists a like, who have completed a diploma of Masters
II (European standard) level, or equivalent. As the Program is located in
the art school students can profit from a great diversity of artistic
approaches and disciplines present in the school.

The primary aim of the Program is to provide students with the means to
develop their artistic and research in an academic environment that is
oriented to prepare them for the demands of the professional context of
contemporary and post contemporary art. The Program is structured to
facilitate the exchange of knowledge and skills relevant to both artistic
thought and practice. In addition to broadening students' knowledge, the
Program La Seine aims to recreate professional working conditions as much as
possible. The group dynamic and interactive nature of the Program encourages
the students to exchange their experiences in the studio as well as to
develop their critical faculties collectively. Regular group meetings with
established artists and professionals from the art world and a diverse set
of academics coming from numerous disciplines are organized, presenting the
students with a challenging and stimulating experience. After these group
meeting students engage in private tutorials with these visitors.

*Organisation*
La Seine is two years program. It runs for two nine-month periods starting
in October and ending in June, with four to six new participants selected
each year.
