<nettime> Italian Authoritarian "Casarini" and World Bank Official "Lanvin" flanned on U.S. East Coast in separate attacks

   Volunteers of the Biotic Baking Brigade landed a multilayered cream
   and
   strawberry pie in the face of Luca Casarini just before he was to
   speak
   at the feminist bookstore, Bluestockings, in the Lower East Side.
   Casarini is the self described 'leader' of the Disobbiedienti (a
   current
   of the Italian anti-capitalist and anti-war movement that was once
   popular but is now not so sweet due to half-baked behavior on the part
   of its leader). Some examples incude: the taking over of anarchists'
   actions in Torino and other parts of Italy, the disruption of the
   Bologna Social Forum and the attempt to lead the dockworkers war
   resistance in Tuscany, which ended with his being driven off
   physically
   by the workers.
   The doughy Pie-zano was frosted successfully on his way into the store
   where a crowd had gathered to hear a presentation on anti
   -authoritarianism and academia. Casarini made one good point in a talk
   the previous night - the movement is now as globalized as capital. One
   consequence of this is that self-styled 'leaders' will be held
   accountable for their actions and cannot escape by touring new
   territories and "re-branding" themselves. This action was a gentle
   reminder that those who speak like anti-authoritarians but behave like
   vanguardists will receive their just desserts.  No flakeout!

   WHY PIE Casarini?
   To hear Luca Casarini speak, you would think that he represents a
   radical, democratic and egalitarian part of the Italian movement. But
   by
   his actions, Luca contradicts these ideas and his practices have
   alienated a large part of the Italian movement, including many
   previously close to Tute Bianche. Fortunately much of the Italian
   multitude is politically sophisticated enough to refuse Casarini's
   will
   to power.
   So, why pie Casarini?
   Unlike subcomandante MARCOS, Casarini is not an intellectual or an
   anti-authoritarian (contrary to the title of this event).

   STOP TRYING TO DOMINATE GLOBALLY!
   * By taking over other groups' actions (especially Anarchists in
   Torino
   and the rest of Italy)
   * By disrupting the Bologna Social Forum
   * By trying to lead workers in Tuscany, and ending up being chased off
   by them!

   World Bank Official Pied at CMU Campus

   An official for the World Bank who was giving a speech on the Carnegie
   Mellon Campus was apparently pied this afternoon.
   
   Bruno Lanvin, program manager for the World Bank's outreach program,
   was on the Carnegie Mellon campus as part of the Verizon Foundation
   Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture, which was given in an
   intimate setting during lunch in Hamburg Hall, was focused on the
   global "digital divide."
   
   During the lecture, apparently a man flung a cherry pie directly into
   Lanvin's face. The man who threw the pie took off running but was
   apprehended and taken into custody by the CMU police shortly
   thereafter.
