We are hiring new organizers throughout the state in the next few months to win living wages, end predatory lending, fight racism and anti-immigrant bias, transform urban public education, and develop a political agenda for empowering California's low- and moderate-income communities and communities of color. BK Announcement Grassroots Organizer California ACORN is significantly expanding it's organizing presence in California, in cities including Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Stockton, Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego and beyond, including other western states. Work as a grassroots organizer to build power for low- and moderate-income communities and communites of color. Don't just help people win on their day-to-day and long-term issues, help alter the relations of power between the "haves" and the "have-nots" by building dynamic mass-based organizations. Right now, California is fighting for and winning the following:-Raising the state minimum wage to $8-Racial and economic justice in the funding of youth and after-school programs in Sacramento and Oakland-Direct action empowerment of renters in view of the nation's worst housing crisis (San Jose, Los Angeles)-Living wage policies in Sacramento (we've already won in Oakland, and helped win in San Jose)-Ending predatory mortgage lending and racial discrimination in banking-Environmental justice at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, a toxic Superfund site-Political empowerment of a new, grassroots majority-Much, much more. All ACORN's positions are full time (regular evening work) with salary, good benefits, and the best training around.
