\\ ircam : 19 juni [xxxsys@libertysurf.fr] bonjour, MENDEL is an interactive sound/visual entity, evolutive (pre-written life, going from stars time to volcanos then mineral, aquatic, vegetal, human and machine time... => evolution in 2 weeks). Once you enter the space it is installed in, you try to communicate with it, you listen to continuously changing soundscapes linked to its current time space). It's design is Nautilus like, i would say... The space of MENDEL is divided in 6 zones : nutrition zone : feed it with its three basic elements (using your hands/cutting lights on sensors tables/producing sounds) speech/phonems zone : create DNA like sequences to make it speak its 27 phonems, with 6 tones (like chinese tone language) : it will use its three basic elements to make the sequence ** nato based space zone : you can move the sound of mendel on a 8 speaker system in its space, drawing the deplacements on a screen ** nato based worlds zone : MENDEL can be move in a specific time space from world to world thru tunnels (QTVR/nato based) noyau / kernel ? : contains its inner code, secret garden => you can't approach it, sensors protect it. made of a golden cone stuffed with proximity sensors. EAR : a gramophone looking like Ear, press the button, speak to MENDEL, it will reply what it understood, better and better thru its evolution. The whole istallation is runned by 3 imacs (in pipes coming from the ground), and one G4 playing sounds on a octophonic speaker setup. All is written using MAX/MSP and NATO non mod = i am currently re-writing the imacs softs with natomod, including new features = it's evolving pre.konssept!*n meeTz ver!f1kat!*n. - Netochka Nezvanova - your body may be monitored 4|4|4 quality control f3.MASCHIN3NKUNST @www.eusocial.org 17.hzV.tRL.478 e | | +---------- | | < \\----------------+ | n2t^P | e _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
