DRUMS AGAINST GUNS LIVE PERFORMANCE WITH TAIKO DRUMS AND FLUTE FROM BRITISH BASED GROUP "JOJI HIROTA & FRIENDS" + "THINK POSITIVE" PARTY NO. 3, WITH DJ WASSON FROM VIENN.
Drums Against Guns is a performance that supports the on going initiative to collect the weapons spread in Albania during the year 1997. It is estimated that 517.000 weapons were looted in the civilian unrest of March 1997. This show is initiated from the QNK and the Ministry of Culture of Albania to counterpose Culture against Guns, and it is the first artistic event that starts the cultural campaign "Millennium on the move" from the Ministry of Culture. For this reason, Paagira Musikverlang PR& Events with the support of Delta Publicity and Austrian Airways is organizing a concert show with the well-known British based artists Joji Hirota&Friends. The band will create a celebration atmosphere through the rhythm of traditional Taiko Drums, recalling on the festivity and friendship among people.
Seen as the re appropriation of the traditional element, the project "Drums Against Guns" might work as a source of inspiration to creative potentials of young Albanian artists that deal with music and performance. Therefore it will surely create a lasting impression among performing artists as well as among the wider public. Being in its first institutional steps the QNK (International Cultural Center), is trying very hard to serve its destination, that of a cultural exchange point of reference. Indeed this would be the first serious and large event, taking place in the building since almost three years of inactivity for the center. Therefore this is the first event for the autumn season which hopefully shall be followed by a number of national and international events already in the artistic schedule of the Center. The performance shall be followed by "Think Positive" Party No. 3, organized by Delta Publicity and the Ministry of Culture. Invited artist, DJ Wasson from Vienna shall perform a range of music from Ethno Jazz to Ambient Trance. Tickets available at the Pyramid Kiosk.
