Syndicate: noise-control

dear friends,

after the problem with the list this week i talked to oliver frommel of the
aec what we can do to protect the list without losing any of the openness
that it offers. the configuration of the list now works as follows:

- everybody can subscribe and unsubscribe their own e-mail addresses; if
somebody tries to subscribe or unsubscribe an*other* address, this request
gets bounced to the list-owner for approval

- only members of the syndicate list can post to the list, all other
messages get bounced to the list-owner for approval; this means that your
messages will go through without moderation, as always, but we will not get
as many subscription requests and spam as we did recently (messages that
you send from an account that is not subscribed will also get bounced but
will forwarded to the list)

this configuration can still be subverted by people who want to and know
how to, but it should improve the situation.

greetings,
-a
