The winter finally had come to an end, a periode of new departures in nature and the human biorhythm is beginning. The installation of "Transit Camps" is practiced since long time, whether because of humanitarian reasons in order to give people temporary protection from war, terror or nature catastrophes, or as an instrument for persecuting and humiliating people or minorities in totalitarian systems. Most of the Nazi concentration camps had been transit camps, where people had been concentrated in order to be spread easily to extermination or working camps, and in the war regions of the Balkan transit camps became nearly institutionalized. The artist of the month "Melissa Gould" is (was) moving from one sphere to another Her stays in Germany together with the background of the persecution of her own family in Nazi times caused a variety of artistic projects. "Go to the montain top", Agricola's Flash video describes the situation of the re-unifying Berlin on the background of its own history as a center of militarism and war. The "Dalai Lama", head of the Tibetan Buddhism (Lamaism) represents a wanderer and mediator between East and West. Expulsed from his home country he tries to preserve his culture in exile. It is his belief building bridges, which drives him to interfere in matters of Human Rights at many places and occasions on our globe, not only connected to the Tibetan Nation. Like a lot of other African species, the Mountain Gorilla is most threatened with extinct. The space for living and surviving becomes small and smaller in a dramatic speed, so that a "transit", i.e. an adjustment to the changed living circumstances, is not possible by their own effords. "Transit" is a living and culture principle and a central element of the people of the month, the "Sinti and Roma", the gypsies. >From their origin being nomads and travelling people, they move(d) from one country, one culture to another, often persecuted by people, sometimes tolerated by others, but mostly and even until theses days often enough not accepted as a ethnic m?nority. "Chernobyl" became a symbol of "transit", the radiation of the unvisible dangers of radioactivity caused by the nuclear catastrophe 1986. Entire regions in Ukraine and particularly Belarus remain conterminated and restricted areas for an indefinite periode. This caused and still cause unbelievable misery, bringing dead through cancer and other deaseses and circumstances. Particularly children are suffering. But as a result of this catastrophe, Chernobyl represents now also a symbol of the end of the civil use of nuclear energy. "Saigon", nowadays called Ho-Chi-Minh City, represents these days, as well as in the past a symbol. Once in connection with colonialism, the separation of Vietnam into a Southern and a Northern part, the Vietnamese wars of the French and Americans and their defeat, but nowadays also a symbol for the reunification of both Vienamese countries. On 30 April, the anniversary of the Vietnamese reunification is celebrated each year. "Transit" represents the character of a desease raging these days, the Foot-and-Mouth Desease, which is spread like wildfire over the countries even without immediate contact. In times of globalization and industrial mass livestock this can mean even a war-like situation and cause immense economical loss and damage. All those who move from one sphere to another, have to care not only for themselves, but also for the environment they are moving in. Otherwise uncalculable risks and dangers may be connected. Responsability and solidarity is necessary to avoid damages.
