Klanginstallationen - Konzerte - Performances

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

vom 26. Juni bis 7. Juli feiern wir das 20-j=E4hrige Jubil=E4um
unseres Festivals Inventionen (1982-2002), zu dem wir Sie hiermit herzlich
einladen.

Das genaue Programm entnehmen Sie bitte unserer Website
http://www.inventionen.de. An dieser Stelle m=F6chten wir Sie auf einige
Schwerpunkte des Festivals aufmerksam machen:

- 14 Klang- und Multimediainstallationen
u.a. von Robin Minard, Terry Fox und Gordon Monahan

- Ensemble- Konzerte u.a.  mit dem Arditti String Quartet und
Les Percussions de Strasbourg (28. und 30. Juni):
die deutschen Erstauff=FChrungen von "Le Noir de l'Etoile" (f=FCr 6
Schlagzeuger, Tonband und Direkt=FCbertragung astronomischer Signale) von
G=E9rard Grisey (28. Juni, 23 Uhr, Parochialkirche) sowie der
"...Zerst=E4ubungsgew=E4chse" (f=FCr 8 Schlagzeuger und Streichquartett) von
G.F. Haas (30. Jun 20:30 Uhr, SFB-Gro=DFer Sendesaal) stellen
hierbei sicherlich besondere H=F6hepunkte dar.

- Performances in der Staatsbank,
u.a. mit Richard Barrett, Fast Forward, David Behrman

- akusmatische Konzerte in der Parochialkirche und in der Staatsbank:
Mit einem Akusmonium aus mehr als 40 Lautsprechern werden dort
Raumklangwerke aus Schweden (EMS, Stockholm), Belgien ("Musiques et
Recherches", Ohain), Frankreich und Italien u.a. vom ensemble mosaik
vorgef=FChrt, wobei man auf eine Reihe von Urauff=FChrungen gespannt sein
darf. Das EMS aus Stockholm wird au=DFerdem das " ldspel", eine multimediale
Auff=FChrung, pr=E4sentieren.

 Die 22. Ausgabe von VIPER - Internationales Festival f=FCr Film Video und
neue Medien - wird dieses Jahr vom 23. - 27. Oktober zum dritten Mal in
Basel stattfinden. Festivalzentrum ist wiederum das Theater Basel mit den
Kinos in dessen n=E4herer Umgebung und einer Vielzahl Veranstaltungen in
Basel.

 VIPER in Basel richtet sich an all diejenigen, die neugierig auf die
globalen technologischen Entwicklungen sind. Das Festival ist bekannt f=FCr
seine lebendige und kritische Auseinandersetzung zum Thema Kunst und neue
Medien. Internationale und Schweizer Produktionen bekannter und
renommierter K=FCnstlerInnen sind dabei ebenso vertreten wie Arbeiten von
Newcomern. Zugelassen zum Wettbewerb sind Arbeiten aus den Bereichen Film,
Video, CD-ROM und Internet. Eine international besetzte Jury verleiht je
einen Preis in den Kategorien Film/Video und CD-ROM/Internet. Eine
Expertenjury vergibt im Rahmen der Werkschau Medienkunst Schweiz je einen
Preis in den Kategorien Film/Video und CD-ROM/Internet und ber=FCcksichtigt
damit als einziges Festival in der Schweiz neue Medien im kompetitiven
=46estivalprogramm. Die Auswahl erfolgt durch eine Auswahlkommission.
Insgesamt werden Preise in der H=F6he von CHF 40'000.-- vergeben.
 Auch in diesem Jahr wird ein Publikumspreis als Online Wettbewerb
vergeben. Zugelassen sind Quick Time, Flash und Shockwave Movies.
  Neben den Wettbewerben steht bei VIPER 22 die Auseinandersetzung mit dem
Thema    =93PUBLIC PRIVACY: Wie das Private =F6ffentlich wird=C5g im=
 Zentrum, die
im VIPER-Forum mit Symposium, Projektpr=E4sentationen und einer Retrospektiv=
e
als Programm organisiert ist. Damit thematisiert VIPER 22 eines der
wichtigsten Unterscheidungsmerkmale im Alltagsleben, die Trennung von
"privat" und "=F6ffentlich", welches durch Digitalisierung und neue
Kommunikationstechnologien in Bewegung ger=E4t; VIPER 22 fragt nach welchen
neuen gesellschaftlichen, kulturellen und =E4sthetischen Regeln das Private
ins =D6ffentliche gebracht wird.

 VIPER 22
 International Festival for Film Video and New Media
 Invitation for Competition Submittals
 Deadline: June 15, 2002

 The 22nd edition of VIPER - International Festival for Film Video and New
Media will take place this year for the third time in Basel. The date is
October 23 - 27. Once again the Festival Center will be in the Theater
Basel along with neighboring cinemas and a multitude of events in Basel. We
look forward to greeting you at the Festival.
 VIPER in Basel aims to meet the expectations of a public curious about new
developments in global communication technologies. The Festival is known
for it's vivid presentation and critical discussion of art and new media.
International and Swiss productions of renowned artists are represented in
the Festival, as well as works of newcomers. The competitions are open to
artistic works in the areas of film, video, CD-ROM and Internet. A jury of
internationally recognized experts determines the prize winners in the two
international competition categories: Film/Video and CD-ROM/Internet. In
the context of the Swiss Media Art Show a further jury awards prizes in
each of the two categories Film/Video and CD-ROM/Internet. Thereby VIPER is
the only Festival in Switzerland that provides a competitive platform for
new media. Special selection committees make the initial screening for the
competitions. A total of CHF 40'000.- in prize money will be awarded in
VIPER 22.
 Again this year through an Online Competition an Audience Prize will be
awarded. Entries using Quick Time, Flash and Shockwave movies are welcome.
 Besides the competitions, the topic "PUBLIC PRIVACY=8Ahow the private
becomes public" will be featured in VIPER 22. Addressed through the VIPER
=46orum, the topic will be explored through a special program including
Symposium, presentations of series of individual works, installations and a
retrospective. Thereby VIPER 22 will thematicize one of the most definitive
determinants of everyday life -- the distinction between "private" and
"public" -- which through digitalization and new communication technologies
is undergoing radical revision. VIPER 22 will probe under the surface of
this development to find out what new social, cultural and aesthetic
regulations and codes of the private in public are being invented and
practiced.
