[oldboys] The Big M - call for submissions |
***Please forward appropriately - apologies for cross postings*** CALL FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS THE BIG M - NEW PROGRAMME & TOUR 2002/03 DEADLINE: MONDAY 18 MARCH 2002 Isis Arts is seeking submissions of short video works for presentation in The Big M, an inflatable and mobile touring venue that presents contemporary video and digital media. >From motion pictures to mega pixels, The Big M celebrates moving image culture and the possibilities for experimentation created by digital technologies. Unique in both design and function, The Big M provides an alternative to the conventional gallery setting. Via a touch-screen interface, viewers choose their own programme by selecting individual works, each with a running time of 5 minutes or less. Three video projectors show work on DVD in a three screen arrangement with stereophonic sound. Since June 2000, The Big M has toured to over 20 sites in the UK and Europe and was seen by more than 30,000 people. The inaugural programme featured 21 works by 16 artists (for images & programme details, please see www.isisarts.org.uk). We are now seeking 10 - 15 new works that push the boundaries of video production and challenge conventional attitudes towards broadcast media. The programme will not be thematic - it will show the variance of practice within the field and appeal to broad audiences. In order to be considered, individual works must: have a running time of not more than 5 minutes (shorter works are encouraged); be single channel and non-interactive; be completed since January 2000; The Big M will feature at many large, family festivals throughout its tour and consideration must be given to intended audiences. Whilst we welcome work that addresses difficult or contentious issues, work of an explicit sexual nature is not appropriate. Selected artists will receive an exhibition fee of 300 UK pounds for unlimited screening of their work for the duration of the Big M's tour (approx. 20 sites over 18 months). The Big M is not a commercial venture and admission will be free. Copyright remains solely with the artist. To submit work for consideration, please send: viewing copies on VHS, SVHS, Mini DV, DVD or CD-ROM; a current CV; a Self Addresed Stamped Envelope for the return of your material |
