of
CYBERFEM SPIRIT - SPIRIT OF DATA

Sonnabend 12. Januar 2002, 20:00 Uhr - Edith-Ruß-Haus für Medienkunst Oldenburg

Die Patinnen Teil II (D), Donna Neda und Donna Maya präsentieren
" la storia di giradischi a Madame Hu "

Having just barely escaped an assasination, the Godmothers Donna Neda and Donna Maya have fled Sicily for the North. Yet their business lives on. With 4 turntables as camouflage, the two DJs and producers are spending some time in Oldenburg. Tonight's short film "la storia di giradischi a Madame Hu" allows us a peek backstage - a casa nostra production by and featuring  "Die Patinnen Teil II" (the Godmothers Part II) - who will personally do the honor of showing us their artistry in criminal electronic. Sentite!

The term "Cyberfeminism" refers to varying feminist strategies, innovations and critiques that are defined in relation to digital media. It is a network of theory, politics and artistic practice that is constantly in flux, permanently being re-defined and potentially changed with each new position. The exhibition "Cyberfem Spirit - Spirit of Data" therefore will not provide a one-dimensional definition, but offer instead differing artistic positions that describe cyberfeminism's current coordinates.
