nettime-nl: Exhibition at 'Outline' in Amsterdam this August

I am an artist from London, and this August I will be having my first solo 
show abroad in Amsterdam, which is part funded by the British Council, at 
‘Outline’, an artist run gallery in the Oost. Therefore I am feeling more 
than a little daunted! I have been trying to find out more about the art 
scene in Amsterdam, so that I can invite artists and gallery owners to my 
exhibition.

As I have no real contacts in Amsterdam I was hoping that if I put the 
details of my exhibition on ‘nettime’ , I will reach people who may be 
interested in coming. So if you see this letter then perhaps you could let 
me know if you would like me to send you some invitations, or if you know of 
other people that would be interested as well.

My show will feature a large video projection, photographic and video work, 
and I deal with such themes as memory, cliche, and repetition. One piece is 
called “Wishful Thinking” it is a black and white video projection of a 
young girl frozen in the act of blowing out her birthday cake candles and 
making a wish. The girl remains motionless, while the candles flicker. In 
this work I am trying to record the moment of a wish, which is a difficult 
thing to define. How do you begin to measure where something as transient as 
a wish begins and ends?
