DFM.NU BENEFIT PRESENTATION

SAT 12 SEPTEMBER 2009
AT Overtoom 301 AMSTERDAM

an evening of live music, dj's, visual and spoken word performances in a benefit to support DFM's independent, international community of webcasting artists worldwide...

PERFORMING BANDS / ARTISTS:

BIG CITY ORCHESTRA (USA)

Big City Orchestra is a long running art/anti-art group based generally in California. With an ever rotating cast of musician and nonmusician members. Formed in 1979 as house band for network of artist residences in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Almost comedically prolific, BCO sailed through the cassette culture movement of the 80’s & 90’s with about 130 hour long releases on over 100 labels.

FEAR FALLS BURNING (BE)

Most people will typically associate the set-up of one man and his guitar with folk music. For microphonics, however, Dirk Serries, the creative force behind vidnaObmana and Fear Falls Burning, has his mind set to different horizons. Equipped with nothing but a Gibson Les Paul and a few effect pedals, he turns clubs, art galleries, unusual performance sites and concert houses into intimate spaces of sonic echoes and shimmering overtones.

FEINE TRINKERS BEI PINKELS DAHEIM (D)

Rising from the very south-west of germ-money, this obscure duo was created in 1990: driven to find new possibilities of expression and creation of sounds. Their strange name may lead to uneasy misunderstandings -> for the 'feine trinkers' it is symbolic for exploring new paths in musical creation, rather than remaining on the old.

T03K is an ulti-media-artist and one of the driving forces of the free media scene of Amsterdam. Founder of the first dutch webcast station, DFM RTV INT and initiator of the [now-defunct] famous Amsterdam Radio 100.

The Magisterium is a weekly Radioprogram on DFM RTV INT hosted by Magister Tariquat aka TRQT. Trqt creates atmosphere in his program by mixing cd’s, vinyl, cassette tapes, and mini-discs with his own recorded sounds, music, video and noize… Decibel (dB) is the measure of the strength of the noise. Decibel (A), abbreviated dB (A) is the measure of the strength of the sound level, weighted with the A- filter, ie adjusted for the frequency-dependent sensitivity of the human ear.
