[Nettime-nl] "Focus on Internet" seminar, Thursday 16:00, TU Delft TBM


Dear colleagues,

we invite you to the next session of the research siminar "Focus on
Internet", led by Milton Mueller, XS4ALL Chair at the Faculty of
Technology, Policy and Management at TU Delft. Please feel free to also

The theme for this week is

"The Governance of Internet Traffic Monitoring".

Ralf Bendrath will give an introduction into the issue, based on his
current research project on the regulation and usage of deep packet
inspection. Issues addressed in this context include behavioural
advertizing, network and bandwidth management, and content filtering,  
but
also the more general threat to the end-to-end principle and the overall
question: Which variables determine the governance and control of the
internet?

Others involved in similar areas are invited to also discuss their work
and bring their ideas, either on the substance and politics of the  
issue,
or on research methodologies and theoretical approaches.

The building is a 15 minutes walk from the main station in Delft,  
between
The Hague and Rotterdam.

After the seminar, there will be an opportunity to have dinner togeter  
in
the pittoresque town of Delft. If you are interested in this, please
