Als ÃÃn van de partners van het 5 days off festival presenteert  
STEIM de Noise Room in Melkweg Theater.

De Noise Room is een autonome surround sound-installatie, waarin  
specifiek voor deze ruimte gemaakte muziekstukken en audio- 
experimenten te horen zijn. Het is zowel een muzikale deconstructie  
van een ruimte-in-een-ruimte als een geluidsstudiosculptuur. Elk  
geluidswerk dat wordt uitgevoerd in de Noise Room is geselecteerd,  
bewerkt en gearrangeeerd om tot een maximale geluidservaring in deze  
ruimte te komen. De stukken die in de Noise Room gepresenteerd  
worden, verwijzen naar het concept van de âspeaker-concertenâ, dit  
in tegenstelling tot de âlive-concertenâ. Elk stuk zal te horen  
zijn op een 5.1 surround sound-systeem dat is geconfigureerd voor de

De Noise Room is een project van Jan St. Werner, artistiek leider van  
STEIM en lid van Mouse on Mars. In 2005 presenteerde het 5 days off  
festival al de Noise Cabin. De Noise Room was eerder dit jaar te zien  
in STEIM. Voor het 5 days off festival is een geheel nieuwe en  
grotere versie gebouwd.

As one of the partners of the 5 days off festival, STEIM presents the  
Noise Room in Melkweg Theatre.

The Noise Room is an autonomous surround sound installation built for  
pre-recorded musical works and sonic experiments. It is a musical  
deconstruction of a room-within-a-room as much as it is a sound  
studio sculpture. Each musical work which is performed in the noise  
room has been selected, edited and arranged for a listening situation  
in which the listeners can dedicate themselves to a maximum listening  
experience. The pieces presented in the Noise Room refer specifically  
to the concept of a so-called âspeakerâ concert in contrast to a  
so-called âliveâ concert. Each composition will be played back  
through a multi-channel 5.1 speaker setup that is configured  
according to the spatial acoustics of the Noise Room.

year in STEIM. For the 5 days off festival a completely new and  
bigger version of the Noise Room was built.
