STEIM in the San Francisco Area

 >>> april 8 - STEIM demo and concert at The Lab / San Francisco
(www.thelab.org)

LiSa X and junXion v2 demo - 6pm
Michel Waisvisz (STEIM's director) and Robert van Heumen (STEIM's
managing director and LiSa teacher) will demo LiSa X, STEIM's live
sampling software, that enables the user to extensively control
live-sampled as well as pre-recorded sounds, and junXion, STEIM's
software package that maps Human Interface Devices such as joysticks to
MIDI. Both software packages are used not only by musicians, but also
by choreographers, performers, installation artists, VJ's and
composers. After a demo there will also be room for specific LiSa or
junXion questions from LiSa users and others interested in more
details.

STEIM concert - 8pm
Michel Waisvisz, Joel Ryan and Robert van Heumen from STEIM / Amsterdam
will team up with longtime STEIM collaborator Laetitia Sonami and SF
area resident Roddy Schrock to present an evening of
electro-instrumental improvised music. Expect different duo / trio
combinations of Michel's instrument The Hands, Laetitia's Lady's Glove,
Robert's Sexy Controllers, Joel's Magic on the laptop and Roddy's
SuperCollider wizardry. Ranging from sonic bursts to gregorian chants,
from melodic melancholy to funny voices, from the abstract to the
concrete.
