Francis Hunger, a Leipzig-based net.artist, will finish his two-month EMARE
residency at V2_Institute for the Unstable Media with a presentation of his
project Semiology of Cyberspace, a spectacle in cyberspace created by a
small program in PERL.

Semiology of Cyberspace doesn't only refer to the Cartesian model of
cyberspace as it was developed since Charles Hintons 1885 concept "Many
dimension", it also relates to all works of art that deal with huge
dimensions - such as the mechanistic utopias in art that can be found e.g.
among Russian Constructivists, where Vladimir Tatlin's "Tower to the Third
International" may function as an example.

During the presentation Hunger will talk about the general structure of
what he calls "a virtual sculpture in cyberspace made out of pure data" and
give some insight on the notion of cyberspace and virtual reality, and the
several models of visualization of cyberspace as a virtual space.

At the moment the project Semiology of Cyberspace is still in progress and
will appear online later.

The EMARE (European Media Artists in Residence Exchange) program enables
the collaboration between European artists on projects with host media-art
organizations. EMARE offers the opportunity for individual artists to
experiment and develop their own project within a new context.

The presentation is in English, admission is free.
