JOIN THE VIRTUAL SIT IN AGAINST THE OAS AND THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT ON AUGUST 
14, 2002

The legendary "hacktivist" group, The Electronic Disturbance Theater,  will 
launch a Floodnet action or virtual sit-in against  the Organization of 
American States and the government of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico on 
August 14 in solidarity with the families of the disappeared and murdered 
young women of Juarez.

This virtual action will coincide with the arrival to the US of  the mothers 
of two women who are among the 800 victims of ongoing violence in Juarez,  
Mexico. The mothers  will lead a march to the Organization of American States 
on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at noon.



The mothers will deliver a letter to the Commission Chairperson of the 
Interamerican Commission on Human Rights urging that body to intervene on 
behalf of the families of the murdered and missing women. To date, the local, 
state and federal government in Mexico have not responded to the crisis in 
Juarez.


The march has been organized by The Women in Black Art Project and artist 
Coco Fusco to raise awareness about the 800 women who have been murdered or 
"disappeared" in and around Ciudad Juarez, State of Chihuahua, Mexico, over 
the past decade.

2002 

El legendario grupo hactivista, el Teatro del Disturbio Electrónico, lanzará 
una acción con "Floodenet," es decir, una manifestación virtual, contra la 
Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) y el gobierno del estado de 
Chihuahua en México el 14 de agosto, en solidaridad con las familias de las 
mujeres desaparecidas y asesinadas de Juarez.

Esta acción virtual coicidirá con la llegada a los EU de las madres de dos 
mujeres que son entre las 800 víctimas de la violencia continua en Juarez, 
México. Las madres encabezarán una marcha a la Organización de Estados 
Americanos el miercoles, 14 de agosto, 2002, a las doce del día.


Las madres entregarán una carta al presidente de la Comisión Interamericana 
de Derechos Humanos, que urge que dicha organización intervenga en nombre de 
las familias de las mujeres desaparecidas y asesinadas. Hasta hoy, el 
gobierno mexicano, al nivel local, estatal y federal, no ha respondido a la 
crisis en Juarez.

 
La marcha ha sido organizada por Las Mujeres en Negro - Proyecto Artístico y 
la artista Coco Fusco para tomar conciencia del hecho que casi 800 mujeres 
han sido asesinadas o desparecidas en Ciudad Juarez y sus alrededores, en el 
estado de Chihuahua, en los últimos diez años.
