The Department of Visual Arts at the University of California San Diego is pleased to announce the following position available beginning for the 2002-2003 academic year (application deadline Feb. 24, 2002). Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience and based upon UC pay scales. Specialist in colonial or post-colonial Latin American art and visual culture. Any area of concentration considered, but candidate's research and teaching interests should include the Latin American experience in California. UCSD is a research university that actively promotes and supports individual faculty research. Teaching will encompass Latin American visual culture broadly defined (painting sculpture, architecture, film photography, other) and theory and methodology, and include graduate seminars in area of specialization for an innovative new Ph.D. in Art History, Theory, and Criticism as well as undergraduate courses (survey and advanced). Candidate should have a record of excellence in research and teaching. Ph.D. (or close to completion) or equivalency required.
