CALL FOR PROPOSALS

"Study on the Challenges and Opportunities of the Networking Revolution in
the Developing World - 1990-2010"

Only proposals received before 5:30 pm on July 16, 1999 will be
considered.

The Information for Development Program (infoDev) is a global program
managed by the World Bank to help developing economies fully benefit from
information and communication technologies (ICT). infoDev shares worldwide
experience with, and disseminates best practices to key decision-makers,
both public and private.

In assisting developing countries and transitional economies design and
implement national information infrastructure strategies, original
research is urgently needed on the impact of emerging technology, markets
and regulation on economic development.  It is expected that this research
will provide the bases for the development of a report and methodological
tool for policy-makers in developing countries and transitional economies
and will be made available to all infoDev clients and donors , World Bank
Group borrowers, as well as the widest possible audience in electronic
format.

infoDev is willing to make a grant of up to US$150,000 to an individual,
organization or firm which provides the best proposal for the execution of
the work program described in this Call for Proposals.

The proposal will form the basis of negotiations with the first-ranked
proponent leading ultimately to the execution of a Grant Agreement with
the selected proponent.

The Assignment shall be implemented in accordance with the Terms of
Reference.
