Last year the government ordered the closure because they "were interfering with government frequencies". The radio station has become popular because its programming and objective reporting. According to Irina Kouropatkina from Radio 101.2 and the name of the radio station has become synonymous with its frequency location. In protest, staff at Radio 101.2 organised a demonstration and are determined to fight for the future of the station, freedom of speech, pluralism and democracy in the media. AMARC-Europe requests that faxes of support should be sent to the President of Belarus demanding: A reversal of the recent decisions made by the government with regards to the frequency previously occupied by Radio 101.2 FM B7 for the government to recognise their decision is a violation of the right to freedom of expression and take immediate steps to allocate another frequency to Radio 101.2 .
