Re: <nettime> Hungarian government chasing CEU

Hi Marlock,

nobody speaks of angels and the ever growing influence of money, and the
super-rich, on all aspects of civil and political life is of course
problematic.

But, throwing the baby out with the bathtub is well-known strategy of
the far-right, aka all politicians are crooks, so let's elect a crook,
who is at least honest about being a crook. That's what gave you guys Trump.

It's simply not the same to support liberal, market-friendly civil
society actors because one beliefs in and makes money from "the markets"
and funding climate denialism (against better knowledge) because one is
heavily invested in coal and oil.

And even if it were the same (which it isn't), the issue here if it's
good development that a government with strong totalitarian bent can
control all institutions of society. If you want to be maximally cynical
about it (which is lazy thinking, but OK) then the choice is: One
dictator ruling everything vs one dictator who is challenged by an oligarch.
