   Also, if interoperability is not a design aesthetic, then why connect
   to a network at all? To hear? Observe?

   I hear you on the relationship of power and stratification, but there
   has to be an exchange or signaling component between endpoints if
   network communication is desired. Even in a loss-less network like
   Infiniiband, you still have to maintain some degree of error correction
   and signaling code to indicate back-pressure on the sender. Congestion
   control and avoidance.

   Again, speaking strictly to the design features of network
   communications over computer networks.
