<nettime> textz.com reported to have released the complete works of Theodor W. Adorno |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE London, November 28, 2014 Today, textz.com has released its long-rumored "Complete Historical-Critical Edition" as a torrent on The Pirate Bay (1). The encrypted archive is supposed to contain the source code of all published and unpublished versions of the website, from around 1999 to 2006, and thousands of pirated e-books, allegedly including the complete works of Theodor W. Adorno in digital form. Between 2000 and 2004, textz.com was one of the most popular online sources for pirated digital literature. In October 2014, the website has resurfaced as an "Alternate Reality Game" whose participants are confronted with a series of cryptograhic puzzles (2). It is expected that solving the game will let players decrypt the complete textz.com archives that were released today.
