Yes.
 
The academia you describe is a BOOK culture (which arose in combat
with a MANUSCRIPT culture) existing under the environmental conditions
of a TELEVISION culture, which is now under assault by a BLOG culture.
 
Figure out the FORMAL causalities of these four and the  inter-relationships 
and you will begin to understand why NO individual actions  can alter this 
CAUSALITY.
 
It MUST be this way.
