Those of us who were around during the military adventure in Vietnam 
(which would have to include many of the journalists currently wringing 
their hands and pretending shock and surprise) would remember similar 
stories coming out then, and also the horror stories about CIA behaviour 
in Latin America a few years later. There's the stench of hypocracy and 
evidence of some short memories in everything that's being written about 
this in the mainstream press.
