<nettime> INDIA: [cr-india] Another media is possible |
---------- Forwarded message ---------- Open publishing is an alternative to mainstream media, displaying the ability of ordinary people to report and comment on anything of interest without centralised control, respecting the rights of others to get non-partisan reportage. Live and archived audio and video streaming from WSF 2004 in Mumbai, with written reports, is available from http://india.indymedia.org, supported by media activists from across the world. Anyone who wants to help with the written text, converting it to Indian languages, is welcome. This is similar to efforts made by activists from other places, who have or will make the content available in Spanish, French and more. The content, including the streaming web-radio and video is free to publish, with acknowledgments. Activists who want and need to know the mechanics of organising and delivering a wide variety of content, including live radio, may visit the indymedia center, on the first floor above the main media center, at WSF 2004 in Mumbai. We will organise specific workshops for small community groups to learn how to build and operate their own low cost, low power radio stations, if there is interest. -- Vickram _______________________________________________ cr-india mailing list cr-india@sarai.net https://mail.sarai.net/mailman/listinfo/cr-india # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
