I've always thought they should put the author credentials next to the by line, especially when the article appears in a newspaper. This is not informative journalism on recent UN statistics, but a seriously loaded piece, although well camouflaged as such. At least the Times had the insight to place it inside the opinion page, not at all what I can say for most outlets. For those who are less in tune with ruse of nonideological thinktanks here in America - indeed there has been a veritable explosion of such 'institutes' - AEI is a neoconservative/neoliberal thinktank in D.C. Perhaps on par with the Cato Institute. As found in their charter: "The American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research is dedicated to preserving and strengthening the foundations of freedom -- limited government, private enterprise, vital cultural and political institutions, and a strong foreign policy and national defense." As far as Ben J. Wattenberg's ideological orientation. Those hovelling dark skinned masses will have to wait and see. Ack!
