I'm now officially confused... This is a battle of good vs. evil (so they say)..... But I think the terrorists actions _and_ what the US has done to create the terrorists is evil.. If this is Armageddon, then who is the anti-christ?... binladin or the _other_ bush twins? I can't tell the difference... I'm just waiting for the next round of reality TV shows to be postponed or cancelled when they realise when they won't be able to compete for ratings with "WAR - This Time Its Justified Revenge" live on CNN. This is getting seriously mushroom shaped... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 22:54:35 +0200 From: "Robert Simon" <r.simon3@chello.nl> Subject: Re: <nettime> OPPOSITION TO WAR IN THE HEART OF TEXAS > > Another point raised was that in some ways the U.S. has brought this on > itself. This is no more or less than the double of Jerry Falwell's view that "God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us what we probably deserve". He goes on to "point the finger" at "pagans" "abortionists" "gays" "the ACLU" etc etc. "You helped make this happen". (Int'l Herald Tribune 15-16 Sept). Try to imagine 5000 deaths one at a time, a fireman, a secretary, an investment banker and a restaurant worker. Burned, blasted, crushed. Not "the U.S." and "itself", but this person--did he or she bring it on "himself" or "herself"? And if so, how so? Sentimentality? I think not. What are the relations between the barbaric acts of states and their citizens? Who's responsible, and who deserves what? And the barbaric acts of small networks and organizations--what are the relations between these and those whom they speak and act "in the name, on behalf of"? Not general questions, but specific questions for now, at this moment of crisis. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 09:16:08 -0400 From: ANASTASIOS KOZAITIS <anastasios.kozaitis@verizon.net> Subject: chickens coming home to roost There's an eery quiet in NYC this morning. I fear the "type" of revenge that the US will carry out, and I am more scared of the revenge mongers with whom I have spoken the past few days. What I don't get is how Americans can say that this terrorist attack was unprovoked, and when I remind people of the overt, manipulative, abusive, and historic US Foreign policy, they look at me and say, "I don't care what you say. There is nothing that we've done that would result in this act of war." I shrug and say, "Believe what you want, but you may need a better understanding of history." Be well. - --Ak ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 08:08:41 +0200 (CEST) From: integer@www.god-emil.dk Joy Garnett <joyeria@walrus.com> >sorry for the bad line-breaks; i'm just too tired and too occupied making >firemen's sandwiches to clean up the text. Dear Joy Garnett Had been afraid I would be taking too much time away from your "updated links to the Nigerian Scam Mail" project but since you mentioned that you do not "know what the fuck to do" with your self I decided to proceed. Regarding your forwarding yet another magnificent display of intelligence by Israel's foreign minister, Shimon Peres: The number one human disease on this planet is obesity. Do you know what the fat-test country in the world is +? Well - 70 percent of the adult population in the USA is f a t and 30 percent of .us children are obese. Now, you said you were - "making firemen's sandwiches" So, what does that make you +? I would be less concerned with others' `religious dilemmas` and more concerned with what you are putting in those sandwiches. It appears that the domestic [American] religion - FOOD [i.e. mostly preserved murdered organisms] is negatively affecting a larger percentage of the American population than others' `religious dilemmas` and certainly more than cigarettes.
