Welcome another lonely warrior against the vast left-wing conspiracy to
beggar under-appreciated producers of wealth. Where would corporate giants
and most governments be without her ilk?

It looks like we're in for another classic instance of media "balance"
(more rightwing whining).

One "Disclosure" (a lady boss harasses male underling) balances 1000's of
confirmed mal-on-female sexual harassment cases.

One celebrated case of reverse discrimination balances systematic
discrimination of the usual kind.

~$200M from the "leftwing establishment" balances billions in corporate
advertising and lobbying. (Come to think of it, I'd say the left is getting
better value for its money. Greening Earth and the Cato Institute are very
expensive to maintain. No wonder the right is trying to copy them via
Astroturf movements, "liberation" management, fake Body Shops, etc. Can
rightwing hacktivists be far behind? Wartime hacking doesn't count.)

Ms. Okonski is fighting yesterday's war. The global mediaspace is too big
for organized efforts to highjack it, as happened with "political
correctness."

If she grew her hair a little and wore glasses, she could kill Naomi and
take her place. Now THAT would be scary. (That comes from watching too many
American made-for-TV movies on late night Dutch TV.)

The WSJ artice was dumb, but just because she's right-wing (a term I use
with considerable misgivings -- "left" and "right" have long since ceased to
have any coherent global meaning) don't assume she's wrong about everything.
DDT may be bad for you, but malaria is a great deal worse. Even at the
height of DDT's cavalier over-use as an agricultural chemical by
developed-world farmers, it never came close to killing a million people a
year. Malaria does. It's also a major contributor to poverty in large parts
of southern and east Africa, because it's hard for sick people to go to work
or tend their crops. DDT, unfortunately, is still the cheapest, most
effective way to control malaria in those parts of the world where it has
its most horrific impact. Until an equally cheap, effective alternative is
found, allowing limited use of DDT -- as last year's international treaty on
persistent organic pollutants does -- is by far the lesser of two evils.
