Re: <nettime> Organizing graduate students across the Net (fwd) |
While you are at it, take a look at the Code of Conduct that your University/institution has for the use of Web resources and in particular for the material hosted in academic servers and you will hopefully understand that unfortunately the institutions powers are extented to cyberspace. Not to mention that students that are not pyaing fees or have any problems with administration often find that their access is blocked and that files have been destroyed. I do not want to name institutions here but i have been present during such practices and they have really shocked me. So maybe a first move towards using the Internet politically would be to organise readings of Codes of Conducts in our spare time and write up a critique of them. thanks korinna Korinna Patelis Department of Media and Communications Goldsmiths College-London-SE14 6NW DIRECT LINE 0171-9197243 # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
