Le Musée des Nibelungen ouvrira ses portes en mai 2001 à Worms
(Allemagne), entièrement consacré à l'une des plus célèbres oeuvres du
Moyen-Age allemand : la Chanson des Nibelungen - et au mythe qu'elle a
suscité. Selon ce mythe, le plus fabuleux trésor du monde repose au fond
du Rhin, sous la ville de Worms. Son principe réside dans un Anneau, une
source inépuisable d'or, d'amour et de joie pour ses détenteurs, tant
qu'ils n'en font pas usage pour leur propre pouvoir.  Quel est cet Or
que les dieux et les hommes se disputent jusqu'à la mort?  En Islande,
il y a mille ans, son secret était transmis par les skaldes sous la
forme de poèmes initiatiques, les "Kennigar".  Au siècle dernier,
certains artistes romantiques voyaient la puissance montante du
"Kapital" comme une nouvelle manifestation de l'Or. A quoi peut-il
correspondre aujourd'hui? A la mémoire? La technologie? La vitesse? 

Partie intégrante du Musée, l'installation "le Trésor des Nibelungen"
rejoindra au printemps 2001 une salle souterraine spécialement
construite pour le recevoir. Les visiteurs pénétreront alors dans une
nouvelle dimension du mythe.

The Nibelungen treasure

The Nibelungen Museum of Worms, Germany, opens in May 2001, given over
in
its entirety to one of the most famous works of the German middle ages -
the
Nibelungenlied - and the myth it gave rise to.

According to this myth, the greatest treasure the world has ever known
lies
at the bottom of the Rhine by the city of Worms.

At the heart of the treasure lies the "Ring" - an inexhaustible source
of
gold, love and joy for whoever possesses it, as long as it is not used
for
selfish ends such as power. What is this gold which gods and men have
fought
to the death over? In Iceland, a thousand years ago, its secret was
handed
down by the poets - known as the Skalds - in the forms of initiatory
verses
known as Kenningar. Certain nineteenth century Romantics saw the
increasing
power of the « Kapital » as the gold in another guise. And what could
the
gold represent today? Memory? Technology? Speed?
In Spring 2001 the Nibelungen Treasure installation becomes a integral
part
of the museum. In an underground chamber specially constructed for the
purpose, visitors will enter into another dimension of the myth.

Täglich von 9h-20h, Samstag 9h-12h, Sontag zu.

Gemäss der Nibelungensage ruht der sagenhafteste aller Schätze, unter
der Stadt Worms, auf dem Grund des Rheins.  Seine Einzigartigkeit
bezieht er aus einem Ring, einer unerschöpflichen Quelle von Gold, Liebe
und Freude für seinen Besitzer, solange dieser dessen Zauberkraft nicht
zu eigenen Zwecken missbraucht. Welches ist dieses Gold, um dessen sich
Götter und Menschen bis auf den Tod streiten? In Island wurde sein
Geheimnis vor eintausend Jahren von den Skalden in Form von Gedichten,
den ‘Kennigars’ weitergegeben. Verschiedene Künstler im letzten
Jahrhundert sahen im aufstrebenden ‘Kapital’ eine der aktuellsten
Wiedergeburten. Und Heute? Ist der Schatz unsere Erinnerung? oder die
Technologie? gar die Geschwindigkeit? 

Als Seele des im Frühsommer eröffnenden Nibelungenmuseums in Worms,
findet sich dort der ‘Schatz der Nibelungen’ in einem speziell hierfür
errichteten unterirdischen Saal wieder. Der Besucher lebt hier eine neue
Dimension des Mythos’. Erleben Sie die Vor-Premiere im Goethe Institut.
