2003 USASA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT SUNDAY RIVER

About USASA

United States Amateur Snowboarding Association (USASA) was incorporated in July 1988, by former amateur surf coach Chuck Allen, with a $500 donation from Transworld Snowboarding Magazine.

It was is the first governing body exclusively for competitive amateur snowboarding. The premiere national championships were held in 1990 at Snow Valley, California. Since then, each year has seen an increase in the number of competitors and regions participating within the USASA.

The efforts of the USASA and its regions have enabled men and women, and boys and girls of all ages to participate in its organized events. The events are intended to promote the sport of snowboarding, be fun for the competitors of all abilities, develop athletic skills, and be the qualifiers for national and international competition.

Top riders from the regions qualify to compete in the annual national championships. In addition to the halfpipe, slalom, and giant slalom disciplines, the USASA introduced slopestyle as a sanctioned discipline in the 1993-94 season.
