[oVERstation] meeting December 9 2001 oSLo Kunsthall

carpet:
- the carpet group came up with one example.

Lars : We thought about an old rich lady sitting, smoking....cozy.
Jan : How does it look when it's bigger?
Josephine: Better.

from
different
people:	-How to keep it clean? --
	-Take off your shoes.
-What about the smelly feet caused by Norse wintershoes?
There is always a bad smell. --
	-Slippers!
-Feel the carpet with your feet!
-What about women with high heels? [boy asks] --
	-That`s their problem. [girl answers]
-What about a place where you can walk beside the carpet?
-How do the edges become? --
	-You put on a list
-Like a carpet island in the room.

	-What about the walls? --
-We could paint them and make them crash visualy with the
lamps. An interior architect's nightmare =D
-Are we inviting people to do something ? --
-You could put [new painting] on top of [the old].
-It should be able to communicate with them.

-Now: the walls are a documentation from oSLo Kunsthall
Then: make other people do something. --
	 some thing... yeah [laughing]
-What do the lamps look like? --
	-Extremely blue light

-How will the lamps change the carpet?
-Are we allowed to put [color] filters onto the lamps? --
-Maybe as a part of a performance,
but we should respect art and law.

BACK TO THE CARPET:
-Why do you have only one example? --
We could still have the island feeling.
-Then we'd have to pay. Ok!
	-Furniture: they should be mobile.

Inventary list to Øystein Ustvedt[I guess he already has one..]

-The whole building would be filled with artwork.
	-[wallpainting] Our room,
maybe it shouldn't be that packed.
-[wallpainting] Then start at both ends of the room and
let them meet during working process.
-We could make it a light room. Creamy white color for a
wall painting. So that it looks like tapestry in the end.
-[wallpainting] Then we can use all the walls in the room.
-Do we want to make interviews?
-How do we want to present them? --
	 Paper /
video (projected on the wall) /
	 webcam /
	 Photography

WALLS AGAIN:
	-Let it grow...
	-How?
-What kind of pictures on the walls?
(artwork from the collection [A/F MoMA])
-What kind of work are we going to do? -- Team work.
No personal stuff (i.e. personal works).
-We [are] doing something in his [Rirkrit] spirit
	-Open up to other people
-Malmö; the artist`s running SIGNAL [artspace]
wanted to do something in oVERstation
	-Change location for one day:
	 Kunstnernes Hus/Museum crossover
[some people from the academy are doing something at
	  Kunstnernes hus]
-Who do we invite? -- Not only artists!!

[some are leaving for another meeting]

OPENING AND ENDING PARTY:

-Mixing of drinks: find some drinks. Learn to mix them.
	-Mobile bar

CARPET AGAIN:

	-Away from Børre's carpet thing
[Børre Sæthre had a room with a clear strong blue 1:1
carpet with a unicorn at A/F MoMA last year]
[...]
	-What is over? --
	-oVER : far out.(in thai.)MAGAZINE - big project.
	 [see http://overmagazine.com]

CARPET [ comments from everyone]

MARIE Too much color, disturbing the pictures on the
		wall.
KINE I like it. But if you work a lot in there it might
		disturb too much.
ANN KRISTIN Creepy-colored walls & carpet: to make it open
for people to work in there; diffuse.
TOR JØRGEN It looks very bad. It might lead into some
direction. Whatever we do, this carpet will
		scream.
It must be handled with care, but for me it's ok.
LEIF MAGNE The carpet is messy. It's going to look stylish
only at the opening. I think the carpet is ok to
begin with. We should find something that fits
the walls. Let's just make a decision.
ELISABETH It is a decision.... I like the fact that it is
coming from outside. That it creates a feeling of
living room and that it is not at all arty.
I miss the movement on the floor.
KIRSTEN It could be very demanding. I like that it's not
a lounge like we've seen before.

[some one else: Why a carpet and not stones?]

JOSEPHINE I choose the carpet. As a reaction to
		Børre[Sæthre]/LoungeRoom
JAN I would like to put crazy things up against each
other to see how it affects us.

[from someone else: We do not want people to get emotional.Do we?]

JAN The other works are very slick room. To be the
room where we change/work against the artist
style. I could go for it without seeing it.
So I like it. (We could have different carpets?)
ØYSTEIN It`s good. We should use it. But the furniture
		should be without a pattern.

[someone else: What about the "moving" carpet.
[should the carpet have a topography]?]

LARS I choose it, too. I would like to make a lounge
in another way. Another way of wrapping the room.
Strong things against each other. How would an old
lady react to this room? It will be SLICK since
er are in A/F. Use the opportunity to make (do?)
		something.

[someone else: Børre[Sæthre] is too slick]

SINILDEA I choose the carpet, too. To make it different
from the other rooms. I think it is important to
use the cream color on everything else.

[someone else:The color of the lamp will change the color anyway]

HELENE I agree with most. I can see the carpet demanding.
The overall pattern seems bigger when it is a
		small carpetsample.

[someone else: -We will have a corridor around.
-Do you think people will walk on the carpet? --
		 Yes.
-Do we want them to take their shoes off? --
Signs saying : TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF.
-We could write "take your shoes off"
in many languages. We could make different signs.]

KATHINKA: It's ok.
[everybody agrees on the carpet]
-What is it about the carpet that is interesting
		 for the viewer?
-How should the corners look? 90 degrees? --
		 Messy.
Shape of the carpet: remove shoes or make an island.

WE WANT PEOPLE TO SIT DOWN ON THE CARPET.
WHAT DO WE DO TO MAKE THEM SIT DOWN?
WHAT MAKES THEM TAKE THEIR SHOES OFF? 1:1 CARPET
-To get into the room you have to take
		 your shoes off.

The decision is:
-A hall/ entrance plateau with a sign saying
	 TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES!

Carpet is ok. NOK 198 pr sq.meter.
	make a topography carpet?

make a plateau before entrance to the room.

[KINE has written HUNGRY 100 times]

IDEEBANK: -what is going to happen?
-Think about a playgroup that could make a performance.

	Sponsors: A/F
	mixing/bar:
overstation www/ just on the computer in the oVERstation?
	or a website?

BAR:
	-A long queue/line to get a drink.
	-Chilling out at the bar
-Stay in the room; then get a drink

[Øystein has a cell phone; bar / light boxes with wheels]
Shakers/glasses/supervisor: KUNST CATERING?: [norwegian group of
art, catering/performance]
[Jan taking pictures of all for the interview]

OPENING:
-Should we wear something that connects us?
	-Buttons?
	-The whole group?
HOMEPAGE: i.e. ask ANART.NO for webhotell?

next meeting: with Ustvedt at the Academy
next thursday at 14:30 local time.
