[Nettime-bold] Digital Opportunity Task Force report

As the meetings and protests begin in Genoa for the G8 summit, I want
to point out a report that is the result of several meetings over the
last 12 months with G8 reps, NGOs, companies, some developing
countries, and international organizations.  What makes this a
departure from previous reports is that non-profit organizations sat
at the table in more than an advisory role. Of course, how those
non-profits were chosen depended on each country. There is a member

The Genoa Social Forum program http://www.genoa-g8.org/ does not seem
to address information technology in any of the planned sessions, but
there is an implied criticism of this sort of effort as being a
distraction from other issues like debt reduction and the environment.

Given that the street actions will overshadow this and that the host
country Prime Minister, Guiliano Amato, is not very enthusiastic about
emphasizing technology, you may hear nothing more about it. It's worth
a look.
