Art productions, performances, creative events and cultural content often imply demands on functionality that requires specific software and hardware other then the main stream software packages can offer. In the workshop Creative Kernels special emphases will be set on: - Exchange of research and development in the field of creative software engineering - The possibilities and consequences of 'open source' in the field of creative software development from both a developers perspective and an artistic perspective. Artists who consider the programmed code being a crucial part of their work will present and comment their work. The creators of significant art related software products would present their work, talk about it and exchange concepts, knowledge and future scenarios. Several cutting edge hands-on demonstrations will be given during a person to person exchange session. In the final session of the workshop interoperability and open source for art and creative software development will be discussed among the audience and a panel of experts.
