<nettime-ann> The Weight of Information 2.0 Launch |
. Hi all, This evening (Saturday Nov 17th) at 0901 UTC (0401 EST) marks the attempted launch of the second iteration of my 2014 satellite artwork The Weight of Information 2.0. A small 2cm square pico-satellite named TWOi will orbit the Earth and try to ascend by forgetting, to escape the weight of information. TWOi is packed on board the NASA mission NG-10 bound for Low Earth Orbit. The launch will take place from Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, USA. A live stream starts at 0830 UTC (0330 EST) here: https://www.nasa.gov/live NG-10 is launched on a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket and is delivering a Cygnus space craft, CRS-10 to re-supply the space station. TWOi is packed with other pico-sats on board Zac Manchester's Kicksat2 deployer satellite - a small 3u cubesat which is on board the Cygnus. The Cygnus will dock with the ISS and once it has been unloaded and re-packed with return items, will perform maneuvers in mid-february before deploying Kicksat2 to Low Earth orbit at 325km. 2 days after deployment TWOi will be placed into autonomous orbit and is scheduled for re-entry a week later. During the autonomous orbit section of the flight public Meet 2 Delete events will be run at the Thomas King Observatory in Wellington NZ and other locations TBA. If you would be interested in hosting a Meet 2 Delete event at your location in mid-feb / early march 2019 please do get in touch twoi@julianpriest.org Details at http://julianpriest.org/twoi [apologies for x-posting] cheers /julian http://julianpriest.org/twoi Thomas King Observatory, 40 Salamanca Road, Wellington 6012, NZ _______________________________________________ nettime-ann mailing list nettime-ann@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-ann
