We write you from the journal Artnodes because we consider that it’s very interesting and of capital importance to be able to participate in Nettime to publicize and disseminate our new CFP, which is about Digital Humanities. Here you have all the necessary information in english and spanish:

The development of computing technology and the expansion of the digital medium have given rise to major transformations from a social, political, cultural and epistemological perspective. Digital Humanities, as a field of research, critical reflection and action, has become one of the key agents in this process of transformation, contributing, on the one hand, to its own development; and on the other, to its critical analysis. Thus, the practice of Digital Humanities helps us expand contemporary society extending into new forms of access, production and distribution of knowledge, culture, social actions and political discourse, while also aware of its problems, imbalances and uncertainties.
The 3rd International Congress of the HDH, held in Malaga in October 2017, focused its attention on this crucial role performed by Digital Humanities, addressing three key aspects: societies, politics and knowledge. The following question was proposed for consideration: How are the Digital Humanities contributing – or might contribute – to the transformation of these dimensions in the diversity of the territorial and cultural contexts where the Digital Humanities are developed?
One of the main goals of this CFP is to compile the most significant contributions that were presented at the HDH2017 in order to expand their dissemination and scope. Therefore, we are inviting any participants of the HDH2017 interested in being featured in this issue to submit their research. However, this CFP is open to anyone working in the field of DH who would like to contribute to this special issue. Consequently, this monographic issue aims to present the current situation regarding Digital Humanities, in particular as practised in Spain and Latin America or directly related to Hispanic cultures, giving visibility to the aspects of the research being conducted and the epistemological, critical and methodological issues it is trying to address. Although it is true that Digital Humanities is now a global phenomenon that shares questions, challenges and methodologies, the idiosyncrasies of the local contexts in which the practice of Digital Humanities takes place constitute a key factor of singularity and difference, as do the thematic and linguistic spectrum they address. Therefore, in this monographic issue we also wish to contribute to the reflection on what aspects build the identity of these Digital Humanities.
For issue 22 of Artnodes, we are inviting the submission of articles which cover the following topics included in the CFP of HDH2017:
- What is the social impact and projection of Digital Humanities? In what way do Digital Humanities help us reconfigure sociocultural spaces, global-local dialectics, and regional and cultural diversity? How can they collaborate in the economic stimulation of regions? In what way can they contribute to the challenge of making the world more balanced, inclusive, tolerant and open?
- Where does their political dimension lie? What is or should be their role in the turbulent political times in which we live? What type of political construction are Digital Humanities in themselves? What policies sustain their current development and expansion?
- We know that Digital Humanities question the parameters that have defined the traditional academic system until now, but what is the real degree of transformation? Are Digital Humanities developing a knowledge that is really new? What are its methodological innovations, beyond the application of certain technologies? In what way does the diversity of knowledge that constitutes our world interconnect and hybridize? If the interdisciplinarity inherent to Digital Humanities exceeds the traditional concept of “areas of knowledge” inherited from modernity, where are the new frontiers in the processes of knowledge production now?
- Finally, will the hybrid space which Digital Humanities are helping to create become a new territory of freedom in which humans are able to experiment and create in the search for a better world?

El desarrollo de las tecnologías computacionales y la expansión del medio digital han dado lugar a importantes transformaciones desde el punto de vista social, político, cultural y epistemológico. Las humanidades digitales, como campo de investigación, reflexión crítica y acción, se ha constituido en uno de los actores fundamentales en este proceso de transformación, contribuyendo, por un lado, a su propio desarrollo, y por el otro, a su análisis crítico. De este modo, la práctica de las humanidades digitales nos ayuda a expandir la sociedad contemporánea imbricándola en los nuevos modos de acceso, producción y distribución del conocimiento, la cultura, las acciones sociales o los discursos políticos, pero también a ser conscientes de sus problemas, desequilibrios e incertidumbres.
El III Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Internacional Humanidades Digitales Hispánicas (HDH), celebrado en Málaga en octubre de 2017, quiso centrar su atención en este papel crucial desempeñado por las humanidades digitales alineando tres dimensiones fundamentales: sociedades, políticas y saberes. La pregunta que se propuso como marco de reflexión fue la siguiente: ¿de qué forma las humanidades digitales están contribuyendo –o pueden contribuir– a la transformación de estas dimensiones en los distintos contextos territoriales y culturales en los que se desarrollan?
Uno de los principales objetivos de esta solicitud de artículos es recoger las contribuciones más relevantes que se presentaron al HDH2017 para expandir su difusión y alcance. Por eso, invitamos a los participantes del HDH2017 interesados en formar parte de este número a presentar sus investigaciones. No obstante, esta solicitud de artículos está abierta a todos los que trabajen en el ámbito de las humanidades digitales y quieran contribuir a este número especial. En consecuencia, este número monográfico aspira a constituirse en un estado de la cuestión sobre la situación contemporánea de las humanidades digitales, especialmente las que se practican en España y Latinoamérica o están directamente conectadas con las culturas hispánicas, haciendo visibles cuáles son las vertientes de investigación por las que avanza y los problemas epistemológicos, críticos y metodológicos a los que trata de dar respuesta. Si bien es verdad que las humanidades digitales representan hoy un fenómeno a escala global, compartiendo preguntas, retos y metodologías, la idiosincrasia de los contextos locales en el que tienen lugar las prácticas de los humanistas digitales constituye un importante factor de singularidad y diferencia, como también lo son el espectro temático y lingüístico sobre el que versan. Así, pues, mediante este número monográfico también queremos contribuir a la reflexión sobre cuáles son los aspectos que construyen la identidad de estas humanidades digitales.
Para el número 22 de Artnodes invitamos a presentar artículos que aborden los siguientes temas, comprendidos en la solicitud de artículos del HDH2017:
- ¿Cuál es el impacto y la proyección social de las humanidades digitales? ¿De qué modo nos ayudan a reconfigurar los espacios socioculturales, las dialécticas global-local, la diversidad territorial y cultural? ¿Cómo pueden colaborar en la dinamización económica de los territorios? ¿De qué modo pueden contribuir al reto de hacer un mundo más reequilibrado, inclusivo, tolerante y abierto?
- ¿Dónde reside su dimensión política? ¿Cuál es –o debe ser– su implicación en el convulso tiempo político en el que vivimos? ¿Qué tipo de construcción política son en sí mismas? ¿Qué políticas son las que sustentan su actual desarrollo y expansión?
- Sabemos que las humanidades digitales cuestionan los parámetros que han definido hasta ahora el sistema académico tradicional, pero ¿cuál es el grado real de transformación? ¿Están desarrollando un conocimiento realmente nuevo? ¿Cuáles son sus innovaciones metodológicas, más allá de la aplicación de determinadas tecnologías? ¿De qué modo interconectan e hibridan la diversidad de saberes que constituyen nuestro mundo? Si la interdisciplinariedad inherente a las humanidades digitales supera el concepto tradicional de «áreas de conocimiento» heredado de la modernidad, ¿dónde están ahora las nuevas fronteras en los procesos de producción del conocimiento?
- Finalmente, ¿será el espacio híbrido que las humanidades digitales contribuyen a crear un nuevo territorio de libertad en el que el ser humano pueda experimentar y crear en la búsqueda de un mundo mejor?
Las propuestas concretas podrán desarrollar las siguientes vertientes de las humanidades digitales:
