Die Ausstellung stellt das Phänomen von Prothesen als
menschliche Erweiterung im 21. Jahrhundert zur Diskussion. Im Kontext neuester
Technologien sowie aktueller Entwicklungen im Bereich der Neurowissenschaften
und Biologie stellt Susanna Hertrich neue transhumane sensorische Erweiterungen
vor, die mit der Debatte um human 2.0 eng verbunden sind. Die ausgestellten
Arbeiten sind Teil ihres lang angelegten Forschungsprojekts Bodies & Technology.
In den Arbeiten von Susanna Hertrich wird der
menschliche sensorische Apparat durch computergesteuerte Prothesen erweitert.
Die Ergebnisse können als künstlerische Hypothese sowie technologisches
Experiment verstanden werden. Die Werke reflektieren unsere gegenwärtigen
Lebenswelten und befragen soziale, politische sowie physische Konsequenzen der
neuesten Technologie auf kritische Weise.
Neben Hertrichs Arbeiten wird Art Laboratory Berlin auch einen Film über Neil Harbisson und die Cyborg Foundation zeigen.

Das Forschungsprojekt Growing Geometries von
Theresa Schubert setzt sich mit dem organischen Material Pilze auseinander. Aus
posthumaner Sicht auf die Welt untersucht sie die Ästhetik und Mechanismen von
natürlichen Wachstumsprozessen. Die Ausstellung ist Teil des PhD-Projekts von
Theresa Schubert.

The
exhibition explores the phenomenon of the prosthesis as bodily extension in the
21st century. Exploring new technologies and recent developments in neuroscience
and biology, Susanna Hertrich proposes new transhuman sensory extensions of what
may eventually become 'human 2.0'. The exhibited works are part of her long-term
artistic research project Bodies &
Technology.
In Susanna Hertrich’s work a narration is constructed in which the human sensory apparatus is extended through computer controlled prostheses. The results can be understood as crossing the boundaries between artistic hypothesis and technological experimentation. The artworks reflect our current living environments, as well as critically question the social, political and physical consequences of the new technologies utilised in their making.
Next to Hertrich's works Art Laboratory Berlin will showcase a film on Neil Harbisson and the Cyborg Foundation.

fungi as organic material. From a posthuman view of the world the artist
questions the aesthetics and mechanisms of natural growth processes. The
exhibtion is part of her PhD project.
