Dutch Exhibition ZONE_V2_ Draws 15,000 Taiwanese Visitors So Far

V2_’s MOCA SHOW MEETS WITH GREAT SUCCESS

The exhibition ZONE_V2_, on view through 7 October 2007 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, has enjoyed extraordinary interest among Taiwanese art lovers since opening on 10 August. ZONE_V2_ includes works by 22 international artists who experiment with interactive media forms. V2_, Institute for the Unstable Media, of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, put together the exhibition to mark its 25th birthday. ZONE_V2_ unites three themes that have long been important to V2_: time, information and interaction.

In the past 150 years, media such as radio, photography, film, television and the Internet have had a great impact on the manner in which human beings experience themselves and the world. This exhibition examines mediated experience and its impact on social, cultural, political and economic cohesion and interaction. Partly because attention for all forms of media art is on the increase in Taiwan, ZONE_V2_ is drawing an exceptionally high number of visitors. The museum expects that by the time the exhibition ends, visitor numbers will have reached 25,000.

The Taiwanese media are reporting widely on the exhibition, and it has received extensive attention on the TV news. Leading contemporary art magazine Artoday praised ZONE_V2_as the first media-art exhibition in Taiwan to make current social themes around art and media accessible to a broad audience. The average visitor spends two-and-a-half hours at ZONE_V2_.

V2_ Anniversary Boosts Collaboration with Asia
In 25 years, V2_ has grown into an international, interdisciplinary home for experiment and research where artists, scientists, media activists, and university and business research departments work together.

For many years V2_ has been active in Asia, where it works with art institutions, universities and innovative artists’ initiatives.

Taipei’s leading Museum of Contemporary Art thus invited V2_ to curate an exhibition on the occasion of V2_’s 25th birthday.

ZONE_V2_ is a perfect chance for V2_ to strength dialogue with Asia and gain insight into its exciting art world.
