Please list: The Visual Arts Department, in the College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC), is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Electronic Design. QUALIFICATIONS: Required 1. MFA or Terminal Degree in Design; 2. Expertise in Typography and layout; 3. Expertise in Design Fundamentals as applied to one or more of the following areas of specialization: graphic/multimedia/Web design, interactive design and motion graphics; 4. Active engagement in Design theory, history and criticism; 5. Knowledge of conceptual and design-based principles as applied to graphic and experimental design; 6. Working knowledge of applications as applied to graphic/multimedia/We= b design, interactive design and motion graphics. 7. An ability to teach and work with a diverse student body =20 Preferred=20 1. 2-3 years teaching experience beyond graduate school; 2. 2-3 years professional experience in the field of Design; 3. Scholarly or creative research in one of the following areas of specialization: Information Design, Publication Design, Professional Practices, Design History, Environmental Design, Social Design; 4. Knowledge in human-centered information and interactivity design. =20 The University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center is part of = a three-university system located on three campuses. The campus is adjacent to the cultural and entertainment heart of the city, with over 300 restaurants, the Denver Art Museum, notabl= e galleries, the Performing Arts Center and numerous special events and festivals all within walking =20 distance from the Arts Building. Denver=B9s citizens contribute more public funding for the arts per capita than any other U.S. city, and the metro Denver area ranks fourth in the country for percentage of arts-related businesses per capita. =20 Students majoring in Fine Arts select programs in art history, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, multimedia and 3-D animation. These emphasis areas provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of, and direct experience with the various media=8Bas well as an understanding of art theory, knowledge of the methods and materials of art making, and a critica= l analysis of the art object in historical perspectives. Fine Arts students have access to the Photography lab (with black & white, color, non-silver and digital capabilities), Sculpture lab (with bronze casting and woodworking facilities), and Drawing & Painting studios.
