<nettime-ann> [ann] Mediamatic workshop

Mediamatic workshop
INTERACTIVE FILM LAB @ IMPAKT UTRECHT
7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 December 2005
Location: Impakt building, Oudenoord 275, Utrecht,
Netherlands

During the upcoming Impakt Festival from December 7th to
11th Utrecht will once again be swarming with audiovisual
thrillseekers. The perfect event for progressive media
makers to get involved with their audience in exciting new
ways. That?s why Mediamatic in cooperation with Impakt and
HKU (Utrecht School of the Arts) organizes the Interactive
Film Lab: a 5-day workshop where up to 16 film-, tv-,
radio- and new media producers from all over Europe get to
create an on-/offline interactive film using the
ever-evolving Korsakow system in combination with their
own footage.

Starting off with a close study of several intriguing
interactive film projects on the first day, you will
subsequently work on your own project during the next
couple of days. The Korsakow system, a powerful but easy
to learn editing environment, will help you to develop
cross media content for your interactive film. Technical
and theoretical support will be provided by skilled
trainers. Thematically you are invited to explore the
notion of ?local truth?; because market forces and
political processes are becoming less and less global, and
at the same time media tend to become more personal and
intimate, we are inclined to look for truth and
authenticity locally. On the last day a selection of
workshop projects will be presented to the Impakt
audience.

The costs for participation are ? 200 for people from new
EU member states and ? 350 for people from other EU member
states. This includes lunches, fully equipped Apple
computers and technical assistance. There are some
scholarships available. Participants need to have a
background in new media production or filmmaking. For more
information go to www.mediamatic.net/workshops. You can
mail your questions to workshops@mediamatic.nl, or call
Klaas Kuitenbrouwer: +31 20 6389901. Online registration
is possible at www.mediamatic.net/workshopregistration.
